David T. Kessler
David T. Kessler, geboren 1950 in New Jersey, ist ein außergewöhnlicher Maler, der den Betrachter in seine Serien von Wasserlandschaften träumerisch eintauchen lässt. Mit einer ausgereiften Technik, welche in der fotorealistischen Tradition der letzten 25 Jahre entwickelt wurde, begann David T. Kessler sich dem Phänomen des Wassers geschickt zu nähern.
Durch die Verwendung von Aluminium als Malgrund, dem Einsatz von Drahtbürsten sowie Pinseln und Farben, gelang es ihm, die Qualitäten gebrochenem Lichtes spielerisch einzufangen. Die fein gearbeiteten, polierten oder lackierten Oberflächenstrukturen der Bilder erzeugen eine zusätzliche Illusion von unterschiedlicher Tiefe. Reale Lichtreflexionen und transparente Farbschichten lassen den Eindruck von fließendem Wasser entstehen. Der Betrachter meint für Augenblicke, das leichte Kräuseln der Wogen, ein silbriges Schimmern zwischen Gräsern, verschlungene Wellen und Kreise, vielleicht auch ein zartes Plätschern zwischen den sorgsam verwebten Strukturen wahrzunehmen. Seine Bilder lassen eine Konzentration auf Details zu, Wasserströmungen verflüchtigen sich zu störrigen Wirbelstürmen und sich spiegelnde Sonnenstrahlen erheben sich zu lodernden Flammen.
Nach einem Studium im San Francisco Art Institute lebt und arbeitet David T. Kessler heute in Arizona. Seine Bilder werden seit 1977 international ausgestellt, zum Beispiel mit Werkschauen in Tokio, Straßburg, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, Scottsdale, und New York.
